APPLICATIONS ENGINEER – Shock & Vibration

The Applications Engineer (“AE”) insures all daily, weekly, and monthly technical issues relating to the sales of new products are performed accurately and on a timely basis. The AE assists the Sales Manager, Area Managers and Product Line Managers with all technical information required to produce accurate quotations and assists with technical information, drawings, and engineering calculations needed to answer customer questions. The AE will also be directly involved with Product Line Managers for the development of new product literature, webpage design, and identification and analysis of competitive threats. This position may include some travel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
APPLICATIONS ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITTIES
1. Provide pre-/post-sales support for the sales department.
2. Compile all technical requirements and specifications relating to new Shock and Vibration equipment inquiries; maintain documentation of all technical requirements for new projects; and insure that all new equipment inquiries have complete information from the Area Managers and customers.
3. Assist Product Line Managers and Area Managers with technical information needed to complete equipment quotations.
4. Work directly with Product Line Manager on costing and pricing new projects.
5. Work with the Technical Support Specialist; make technical recommendations to Area Managers, Equipment Representatives and customers on pricing, facility designs, performance specifications, utility requirements, etc.
6. Build expertise in trouble-shooting (both mechanical and electrical) of Lansmont product lines.

QUALITY CHECKOUT ASSISTANCE AND CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE VISITS
1. Application Engineers will be available, as necessary, for Quality Checkouts of new equipment under the responsibility of the Manufacturing Engineer to insure timely completion of shock and vibration equipment shipments.
2. Assist Product Managers and Area Managers with customer visits. Application Engineers will be responsible for in-house training and quality acceptance during customer acceptance visits for new equipment.
3. Interface with customers to develop “application notes” to help promote the product line.

ENGINEERING RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work directly with the Engineering Department to determine the best equipment solution for customer requirements. Assist Engineering Department with configuration of machines.
2. Work with Engineering on development of new products, services, and spare parts for the shock and vibration product lines.
3. Provide direct feedback from the field to the engineering department. Gather customer feedback for product improvements/changes.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or equivalent from technical school with 1 year related experience and/or training.

OTHER SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS
1. Mathematical skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions percentages, area, circumference, volume and basic equations.
2. Reasoning ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry our instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems, involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
3. Must be able to comprehend engineering drawings and electrical schematics and have a thorough understanding of equipment operations and performance capabilities.

SENIOR ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

The Senior Electronics Engineering Technician applies principles and techniques of technical work in the design, manufacture, calibration, test, inspection, and repair of digital and analog electronic devices at the system, board and component level. Demonstrates work methods such as test setup, assembly, inspection sequence, repair and test equipment operation. Examines products for defects and utilizes knowledge of manufacturing and quality standards to ensure conformance to product specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Perform validation of prototype and production-released electronic designs
2. Test and repair advanced, complex electronic circuits (digital and analog)
3. Understand wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions for assembling electronics units, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components
4. Assemble, test, and maintain circuitry or electronic components according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronics
5. Aide in the development of test processes, and fixture designs
6. Perform Root Cause Analysis of electronic failures
7. Evaluate manufacturing, calibration and testing procedures on a continuous basis to improve quality processes and increase efficiency
8. Assist in maintaining Test Equipment and Test Standards
9. Interface with Engineering on design and documentation issues
10. Assemble experimental electronic or complete prototype models

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school; or three to five years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced soldering techniques (surface mount) are desired. A high level of computer skills (Windows, Microsoft office, .Net) and familiarity with software programming languages (C, C++, C#, Visual Basic, Linux) would be a plus. Minor circuit design would be helpful.

OTHER SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS
1. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
2. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
3. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions, furnished in written, oral or diagram form
4. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation
