 The Lansmont Model 457 Shock Test System is a versatile high performance shock testing system. Like the Model 203, the Model 457 is outfitted with a shock table acceleration system. When using the Model 457 in free fall mode-without the acceleration system-the maximum payload can be as high as 3,000 lbs. (1,360 kg). While in the accelerated mode, the maximum payload is limited to 250 lbs. (113 kg). In either mode the Model 457 can accommodate test items with a footprint dimension up to 18 inches square (45.7 cm x 45.7 cm). A maximum velocity change of 82 ft./sec (25 m/sec) and a peak acceleration of 7,500 g can be obtained with specimens weighing up to 100 lbs. (45 kg).
The machine is a free fall type system outfitted with a bungee cord acceleration system which more than doubles the velocity change capability. The bungee cord assembly is safely contained within the massive support structure of the machine frame.
