The Model 950/1150 Shock Test System is designed to provide a wide range of capabilities for the shock evaluation of components, products, and packages. It can perform
shock testing in accordance with ASTM, military, government, industry, and corporate specifications. It is of the free-fall type, in which the shock table moves downward prior to impact under the acceleration of gravity.
The machine consists of a shock table on which the test specimen is mounted, guide rods to guide the table, shock programmers to control the parameters of the acceleration versus time pulse produced at impact, a brake system which acts as the table release and rebound arresting mechanism, a lift system to position the table, and a console with controls for remote operation. It is open at the top so as to not restrict test specimen height. This machine incorporates an integral seismic base so that no large reinforced concrete foundation is required for proper operation.
The shock table has a specimen mounting area of 37.4 inches by 45.3 inches (95 cm x 115 cm), and accommodates test specimens weighing up to 2,500 lbs. (1,134 kg). Maximum acceleration level is 1,000 g, and velocity changes up to 25 ft./sec (7.62 m/sec) are possible.
