Lansmont testing solutions support solid rocket propulsion health determination for ATK/NASA

ATK rocket propulsion systems
Lansmont - NASA ATK1

Challenge:

ATK, a leading solid rocket propulsion systems producer, sought efficient means to assess Reusable Solid Rocket Motors' health upon arrival in Florida post-rail transport from Utah.

Timely data provision to NASA for acceptance and buy-off was critical.

Solution:

Lansmont's SAVER 3X90 environmental data recorders were deployed on all RSRM segments during storage and shipment. Custom magnetic mounts and communication cabling ensured no compromise to RSRM surface.

SaverXware software generated a concise "Simple Health Report" summarizing key metrics of interest. This facilitated a streamlined assessment process for ATK and NASA, enhancing overall efficiency and effectiveness in determining the health status of reusable solid rocket propulsion systems.
